Jake,
some good work completed here and it is clear that your pre-production work has been adhered to for the filming and editing process. There were some changes made during the process but these were documented albeit in a basic form.
There are some elements of your pre-production paperwork which are missing and this needs to be addressed and it is clear that come elements could have been much more thorough.
Your 'pre-production process' write shows an in-depth knowledge of the Media industry and the importance of pre-production planning in a moving image text. You have explained in some detail the requirements for a media production.

Initial Ideas
Initial Ideas:
The intention for the short film that we created was to get across a serious message in a way that was not boring and monotone. The reason we chose this setting was because it is a scene that a typical drug addict would hang out in so that he doesn't have the fear of being caught by the police. We only wanted to use one spot because normally a drug taker would not venture out of the safety of his own home. Our inspiration for this idea came from the other DepicT! candidate 'How To Tell If A Relationship Is Over' by Tony Roche.
Another one of our initial ideas was to make sure that the shot looked like it was dirty and full of junk, so when we filmed it we included a lot of cups, bottles and plates on the table where the drug user was sitting t make it look like he was dirty and disorganised.

Location Photo
Location Photo:
We decided to use this location only because it was a safe option for people who takes drugs as they are in the safety of their own home so a home would be their prime location for doing drugs as they have a low chance of getting caught by the police. Therefore we only had one location in use which was our actors house. The reason we chose his house is that he felt more comfortable acting in his own house and that he had to go to work later on in the day so it was more convenient.

The Date: I really enjoyed this video because the humour and major plot twist at the end. I'm like Chris Pratt, I love me some raptors. The multiple camera angles used in this video compliment the fact that it is a date between these two teens, the location also compliment it as it is a remote area so these two can be alone. At the end of the video the CGI for the raptor is very good and works well with the upper quality of the rest of the video.
Conformity: This video is good because of the simplicity of the animation. I like the simplicity of the glass men and then the texture of the water that fills up in them. I also like the music that is played by them as it fits with the theme of them being made of glass and filled with water. I also like the fact that every object if 3D in the video apart from the glass men themselves, this adds a nice touch that they are elegant and fragile.
Cool Unicorn Bruv: I like the idea of this video because it is based in central London and it has something as elegant as a unicorn going through the centre of it. I like the fact that there is no music to distract the viewer from the unicorn. I also like the use of over-the-shoulder shots to show that the man with the bike is instantly cut off once the man with the unicorn shows up.
Induction Task - Line of Sight Evaluation
Induction
task analysis
Mise-en scene
The mise-en scene for induction task was crime, this is clearly portrayed by the use of the use of a gun, a mystery package and the use of clothes to make one of the characters look shady and that he is up to no good.
Lighting
The lighting in our film is all natural lighting that was
from the sun and the shade of objects in the park, so therefore depending on
where we shot the scene the lighting could be really light or very dark if we
were shooting under trees in the park. We could have improved this film by
using unnatural lighting when filming under trees so that facial expressions
and detail that was happening while we were filming.
High or low camera angles
We used a low camera angle shot to be able show that Max was
picking up the package that was laying on the floor, the angle was this low to
show that the package was on the floor next to my dead body and that it had
been dropped.
Different shot distances
In our video we had many different types of shots, covering a lot of the distances, including, long shots, medium shots, close-ups, wide shots and point of view shots. To improve we could have included multiple of each type of shot and included over-the-shoulder shots, extreme long shots and extreme close-ups.
Fades or dissolves
We had one fade in the middle of our video when the gun has been shot and it fades onto the dead body on the ground and we also had a dissolve at the very end when the package is picked up then it dissolves onto the screen that says 'The End'.
The continuity system:
·
180 degree rule- we never broke the 180 degree rule because we only used one camera so there could never be any other camera in the shot. Although we only had one camera we made sure not to have our bags, clothes or tripod in the shot.
·
Establishing shots
·
Match cuts on action
·
Eyeline match shots
·
POV shots- we included a POV shot when Max was using the gun and aiming at me while I was running away with the package.

Photo / Connotation Exercise
Danger: This
represents danger as it is a shot of scaffolding which if taken away could mean
that the building could damage people walking past.
Wealth and
Desire: This eye level shot represents both wealth and desire because
this is an expensive car so it would cost a lot of money to buy it, and because
it is a nice car people would want this car fro themselves.
Friendship
and Loneliness: This shot represents friendship and loneliness
because there is a big friendship group and then one man on this own.
Love and
Fear: This photo represents love because its main focus is a couple
who are in love, it also represents fear because it is shot at such a high angle
that it is from a scary height.
Purity: This eye level shot represents
purity because water is the purist mineral on the planet.
Weakness: This shot
is a high angle shot to show the weakness in the person that is the main focus
in this photo, this is clearly shown because the person takes up the majority
of the photo.
Strength: This
shot is a low angle shot to show that the gym builds up the strength in people.
The fact that the weights are one their own shows that it is a strong individual.
Poverty: The
shot in this photo is a high angle shot to show that the bin is an inferior
object, which then further implies that this bin is part of poverty backed up
by the dirty area that it is situated in.
Friendship:
This shot is an eye level shot which all its light has focused on the
group in the middle showing that their friendship is the main focus in this
picture. The blacked out border further shows that further shows that all focus
is on the group in the centre.
